Custom Mouldings - Made to order

How to Get a Quote for a Custom Moulding

This guide explains, in plain terms, what you need to prepare so we can price a custom moulding correctly and without delays. No technical background required.

Custom mouldings are made specifically for your project. Unlike off the shelf products, nothing is assumed. The clearer the information you provide, the faster and more accurate the quote.

Step 1. Understand What a Custom Moulding Is

A custom moulding is a profile made to your exact shape and size. It can be used inside or outside and can be decorative, functional, or both.

Common examples:

  • Ceiling coving made to a specific height or projection

  • LED coving designed for a particular light strip

  • Exterior cornice or band around a building

  • Window or door surrounds matched to existing architecture

If your project does not match a standard product on our website, it is treated as custom.

Step 2. Decide Where the Moulding Will Be Used

Tell us where the moulding will be installed. This determines material, durability, and finish.

You only need to state:

  • Interior or exterior

  • Ceiling, wall, window, door, or facade

  • Decorative only or also functional, for example hiding LED strips or shedding rainwater

This information allows us to select the correct production method.

Step 3. Show Us the Shape You Want

We need to understand the shape of the moulding when viewed from the side. This is called the profile.

Best option:

  • A simple drawing or sketch showing the shape and dimensions

This does not need to be professional or technical. A hand drawn sketch with measurements is enough.

Other acceptable options:

  • A photo of an existing moulding with dimensions written on it

  • A reference to one of our standard products with clear notes explaining what should be changed

If no visual reference is provided, only very small changes to existing profiles are possible.

Step 4. Provide Basic Measurements

Measurements tell us how large the moulding will be.

Required measurements:

  • Height, how tall the moulding is

  • Projection, how far it comes out from the wall or ceiling

Optional but helpful:

  • Flat areas that touch the wall or ceiling

  • Space needed for LED strips if applicable

  • Any slope required for water runoff on exterior mouldings

All measurements are in millimetres.

Step 5. Tell Us How Much You Need

Quantity affects price and production setup.

Important production rule:

  • All mouldings are produced in fixed 2 metre lengths

What you need to provide:

  • Total length needed in metres

We will:

  • Round the quantity up to full 2 metre lengths

  • Advise if extra allowance is recommended for cutting and fitting

The minimum order is 2 metres.

Step 6. Mention Corners, Ends, and Special Pieces

Straight lengths are not always enough.

Tell us if your project needs:

  • Finished ends on the left, right, or both

  • Internal or external corners

  • Window or door surrounds

  • Decorative blocks such as keystones or quoins

Each of these is made separately and must be included in the quote.

Step 7. Material Selection, No Technical Knowledge Required

You do not need to choose a material yourself.

We offer:

  • Lightweight XPS for interior and LED applications

  • Premium EPS plaster coated mouldings for maximum durability, including exterior use

Simply describe your project and environment. We will recommend the correct material automatically.

Step 8. Confirm Paint and Finish Expectations

All mouldings are supplied ready to paint.

Let us know:

  • Interior or exterior paint

  • Any special finish expectations

No paint is applied before delivery.

Step 9. Provide the Delivery Postcode

Delivery cost depends on location.

Required:

  • Full delivery postcode

  • Country and region

This allows us to calculate transport cost and lead time accurately.

Step 10. What Happens After You Send the Details

Once we receive all information:

  • We review the profile and measurements

  • We confirm feasibility and material

  • We calculate production and delivery costs

  • We issue a clear, itemised quote

Incomplete information slows this process and may lead to assumptions that increase cost or require revisions later.

Summary Checklist

Before contacting us, prepare:

  • A sketch, photo, or reference showing the profile shape

  • Height and projection measurements

This is all that is required to receive an accurate custom moulding quote from Homemerce.
